Abstract
Isolated extracellular matrix from marrow adherent stromal cells and their descendents, which stimulates the growth and survival of a number of different neural cell types, is provided, along with methods for preparation and uses.
Claims10
A method for treating neural degeneration or disorder in a subject, the method comprising:
- providing an extracellular matrix to the subject;
- wherein the extracellular matrix is produced by a cell obtained by a method comprising:
- (a) transfecting marrow adherent stromal cells with a nucleic acid comprising sequences encoding a Notch intracellular domain (NICD)
- (b) culturing the cells of step (a) in the presence of a selective agent, thereby selecting cells comprising the nucleic acid;
- and
- (c) further culturing the selected cells in the absence of the selective agent.
