## Abstract

This invention discloses uses for etonogestrel in preparing anti-prostate cancer products. This invention provides uses for etonogestrel in preparing anti-prostate cancer products. From carrying out cancer drug repositioning for the FDA- and CFDA-approved drug etonogestrel, experiments for this invention show, based on screening of non-anti-cancer drugs for various cancer cell lines (tissue types) and mutation sites, that etonogestrel has a new use as an anti-prostate cancer medication, thus achieving a new purpose for an old drug.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method for treating prostate cancer in a subject comprising administering an effective amount of etonogestrel to the subject.

### Claim 2

A method of inhibiting the proliferation of prostate cancer cells comprising contacting the cells with an effective amount of etonogestrel.

The method of claim 2, wherein the prostate cancer cells are DU-145 cells.
