A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions stored thereon, which, when executed by a computer, cause the computer to execute a method for efficiently storing objects in memory of an in-memory storage system, the method comprising:
- storing content of an object and an object map at a first location of memory in an in-memory system in a first predetermined format, wherein the object map comprises an attribute mask and an offset list to locate a particular attribute of a plurality of attributes of the object, wherein the attribute mask comprises a bit vector describing an encoding of the plurality of attributes of the object;
- and
- storing an index map of indexes to one or more objects at a second location of memory in the in-memory system in a second predetermined memory format, wherein the index map comprises an index to the object map for the object.
