Volar distal radius stabilization system

A stabilization system configured to stabilize a radius, the system comprising:

• a bone plate, the bone plate comprising an elongated portion extending along a longitudinal axis, an enlarged head portion extending along a second axis from a first end to a second end, wherein the longitudinal axis and the second axis are generally perpendicular, and a transition region connecting the elongated portion to the enlarged head portion, wherein the transition region is curved and connected to the first end of the enlarged head portion, the second end of the enlarged head portion is a free end, wherein at least a portion of the elongated portion includes scalloped edges, the bone plate comprising a plurality of fixed angle holes positioned in general alignment along the elongated portion, a polyaxial hole positioned proximate to the end portion of the enlarged head portion connected to the transition region, and an elongated slot on the elongated portion;
• a plurality of fixed angle fasteners configured to be received in the fixed angle holes;
• a polyaxial fastener configured to be received in the polyaxial hole;
• a fastener configured to be received in the elongated slot, wherein the elongated slot allows for proximal-distal and medial-lateral adjustment of the plate.

A stabilization system for stabilizing a bone, the system comprising:

• a first bone plate having an upper surface and a lower surface configured to contact the bone, wherein the first bone plate further has a first portion and a second portion, the second portion generally perpendicular to the first portion, the second portion extending in a different plane than the first portion,
• the first portion of the first bone plate comprising an opening for receiving a fixation member;
• the second portion of the first bone plate including at least one edge that is capable of penetrating bone;
• and
• a second bone plate comprising an elongated portion, an enlarged head portion extending from a first end to a second end, and a transition region connecting the elongated portion to the first end of enlarged head portion, the second end of the enlarged head portion is a free end,
• wherein the second bone plate is capable of being positioned over the first bone plate.
