Abstract
A surgical device includes a handle, an elongated tube extending distally from the handle, and a suction tip at a distal end portion of the elongated tube. The suction tip has a cavity formed therein. A cutting blade is positioned at least partially within the cavity and rotatable across the cavity to sever tissue, the cavity dimensioned to receive the severed tissue for removal from a patient's body.
Claims18
A surgical device, comprising:
- a handle;
- an elongate member coupled to the handle and defining a vacuum lumen, the elongate member having a first outer diameter;
- a suction tip coupled to the elongate member and defining a cavity in fluid communication with the vacuum lumen of the elongate member, the suction tip having a second outer diameter, the second outer diameter greater than the first outer diameter;
- and
- first and second cutting blades disposed within the suction tip and configured to pivot between an open position and a closed position to sever tissue received within the cavity of the suction tip, the first and second cutting blades cooperatively form a sphere with the suction tip when in the closed position, the first and second cutting blades and the suction tip including exteriorly-exposed outer surfaces that define the sphere.

A surgical device system comprising:
- a handle;
- an elongate member coupled to the handle and defining a vacuum lumen, the elongate member defining a first outer diameter;
- a suction tip coupled to the elongate member and defining a cavity in fluid communication with the vacuum lumen of the elongate member, the suction tip defining a second outer diameter, the first outer diameter less than the second outer diameter;
- first and second cutting blades disposed within the suction tip and configured to pivot between an open position and a closed position to sever tissue received within the cavity of the suction tip, the first and second cutting blades cooperatively form a sphere with the suction tip when in the closed position, the first and second cutting blades and the suction tip including exteriorly-exposed outer surfaces that define the sphere;
- and
- a container configured to receive the severed tissue from the suction tip.
