Methods an apparatus for backhaul and access link scheduling in integrated access and backhaul network and synchronized networks

A first pico base station communicatively connected with a macro base station for wireless communication, comprising:

• means for determining a first direction of a backhaul link traffic between the macro base station and a second pico base station, wherein the first direction comprises an uplink direction or a downlink direction;
• means for determining a second direction of an access link traffic between the first pico base station and a user equipment (UE) based on the first direction of the backhaul link traffic, wherein the second direction comprises an uplink direction or a downlink direction that is different from the first direction;
• and
• means for transmitting or receiving the access link traffic in the second direction utilizing at least one of a same time and frequency resources of the backhaul link traffic.

A non-transitory computer-readable medium comprising computer executable code for causing a first pico base station communicatively connected with a macro base station, to:

• determine a first direction of a backhaul link traffic between the macro base station and a second pico base station, wherein the first direction comprises an uplink direction or a downlink direction;
• determine a second direction of an access link traffic between the first pico base station and a user equipment (UE) based on the first direction of the backhaul link traffic, wherein the second direction comprises an uplink direction or a downlink direction that is different from the first direction;
• and
• transmit or receive the access link traffic in the second direction utilizing at least one of a same time and frequency resources of the backhaul link traffic.

A first pico base station for wireless communication, comprising:

• a communication interface configured for wireless communication with a macro base station;
• a memory comprising executable code;
• and
• a processing system operatively coupled to the communication interface and memory,
• wherein the processing system is configured by the executable code to:
• determine a first direction of a backhaul link traffic between the macro base station and a second pico base station, wherein the first direction comprises an uplink direction or a downlink direction;
• determine a second direction of an access link traffic between the first pico base station and a user equipment (UE) based on the first direction of the backhaul link traffic, wherein the second direction comprises an uplink direction or a downlink direction that is different from the first direction;
• and
• transmit or receive the access link traffic in the second direction utilizing at least one of a same time and frequency resources of the backhaul link traffic.
