Abstract
In one embodiment, a method comprises communicating with a plurality of network elements via a first communication protocol to obtain state information of the plurality of network elements; receiving a request via a second communication protocol for a communication session to be established for a client computing device; selecting one or more network elements, wherein the selection is based on at least a portion of the state information of the network elements; and communicating identification information of the one or more network elements selected for use in the communication session.
Claims20
A method comprising:
- communicating, by a first network element comprising processing logic, with a plurality of network elements via a first communication protocol to obtain state information of the plurality of network elements;
- determining that a client computing device has a first active communication session relating to a first one or more network elements of the plurality of network elements;
- receiving, by the first network element, a request via a second communication protocol for a second communication session to be established for the client computing device;
- selecting, by the first network element, a second one or more network elements from the plurality of network elements, wherein the selection is based on:
- (i) at least a portion of the state information of the plurality of network elements obtained via the first communication protocol and (ii) the first one or more network elements;
- and
- communicating, by the first network element, identification information of the second one or more network elements selected for use in the second communication session.
An apparatus comprising:
- a first communication interface comprising a transmitter and a receiver, the first communication interface configured to communicate with a plurality of network elements via a first communication protocol to obtain state information of the plurality of network elements;
- a second communication interface comprising a transmitter and a receiver, the second communication interface configured to:
- receive a request via a second communication protocol for a second communication session to be established for a client computing device;
- and
- communicate identification information of a second one or more network elements selected for use in the second communication session;
- and
- processing logic configured to:
- determine that the client computing device has a first active communication session relating to a first one or more network elements of the plurality of network elements;
- and
- select the second one or more network elements for use in the communication session based on:
- (i) at least a portion of the state information of the plurality of network elements obtained via the first communication protocol and (ii) the first one or more network elements.
At least one computer-readable non-transitory media comprising one or more instructions that when executed by a processor cause the performance of operations comprising:
- communicating, by a first network element comprising processing logic, with a plurality of network elements via a first communication protocol to obtain state information of the plurality of network elements;
- determining that a client computing device has a first active communication session relating to a first one or more network elements of the plurality of network elements;
- receiving, by the first network element, a request via a second communication protocol for a second communication session to be established for the client computing device;
- selecting, by the first network element, a second one or more network elements from the plurality of network elements, wherein the selection is based on:
- (i) at least a portion of the state information of the plurality of network elements obtained via the first communication protocol and (ii) the first one or more network elements;
- and
- communicating, by the first network element, identification information of the second one or more network elements selected for use in the second communication session.
