Provisioning device and/or line sharing capabilities to internet of things (IoT) devices

A method comprising:

• receiving, from a first device associated with at least one of a subscriber account or a communication address, a first request to provision at least one of the subscriber account or the communication address to a second device, wherein the first request includes an identifier provided to a second device;
• receiving second data from the second device, the second data including the identifier;
• comparing the first data and the second data;
• authenticating the second device based at least in part on determining that the first data and the second data include the identifier;
• and
• provisioning sharing capabilities to the second device to enable either the first device or the second device to at least one of send or receive communications with the communication address or with a different communication address of the subscriber account.

An Internet of Things (IoT) device comprising:

• one or more processors;
• memory;
• and
• a plurality of programming instructions stored on the memory and executable by the one or more processors to perform operations comprising:
• receiving, from a device, first data associated with an identifier, the device being associated with at least one of a subscriber account or a communication address and having sharing capabilities that enable the device to at least one of send or receive one or more communications associated with the subscriber account or the communication address;
• providing second data associated with the identifier to one or more serving devices;
• receiving at least one of the subscriber account or the communication address;
• and
• receiving, from the one or more serving devices, sharing capabilities to enable the IoT device to at least one of send or receive one or more communications with the communication address or with a different communication address of the subscriber account.
