Power management system for access control devices

A system for managing access devices at a place of hospitality, the system comprising:

• a controller device located at the place of hospitality and configured to:
• determine that a device of a user is within an area proximate to a controlled area of the place of hospitality;
• and
• transmit, based on a determination that the device of the user is within the area proximate to the controlled area, a first signal to an access device associated with the controlled area;
• and
• the access device associated with the controlled area, wherein the access device is configured to:
• receive, from the controller device, the first signal;
• responsive to receiving the first signal, operate in a first power mode, wherein the first power mode enables the access device to receive a second signal;
• receive, in the first power mode, the second signal from the device of the user;
• and
• responsive to receiving the second signal, allow access to the controlled area.

An access device associated with a controlled area of a place of hospitality, the access device comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory comprising instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the access device to:
• receive a first signal from a controller device located at the place of hospitality, wherein the controller device is configured to transmit the first signal based on a determination that a user is within an area proximate to the controlled area;
• responsive to receiving the first signal, operate in a first power mode, wherein the first power mode enables the access device to receive a second signal;
• receive, in the first power mode, the second signal from a user device;
• and
• responsive to receiving the second signal, allow access to the controlled area.
