Conversion of aircraft data over wireless networks for flight deck and cabin airline applications

A system for interfacing aircraft avionics to mobile computing devices, the system comprising:

• an avionics bus interface module corresponding to a node of an avionics bus, the aircraft avionics being connectable to the avionics bus interface module over the avionics bus to transmit avionics data thereto, the avionics data including one or more data elements;
• an avionics sensor interface module directly connected to one or more of the aircraft avionics, the avionics sensor interface module being receptive to a sensor signal output by the aircraft avionics with a corresponding avionics sensor data including one or more data elements being generated in response;
• a network interface corresponding to a node of a local area network, one or more computing devices being connectible to the network interface over the local area network;
• and
• a network access controller, the data elements of the avionics data received from the avionics bus interface module and the data elements of the avionics sensor data received from the avionics sensor interface module being selectively relayed by the network access controller through the network interface to the one or more computing devices over the local area network.
