Abstract
A loudspeaker real-time state variable prediction system may include a loudspeaker having a voice coil and a magnet, and a non-linear excursion model configured to estimate non-linear excursion of the loudspeaker. The system may further include a thermal model configured to utilize thermal parameters and frequency based on at least one thermal property of the loudspeaker, and a gain adjustment thermal limiter configured to apply a gain reduction an incoming audio signal to protect the loudspeaker from thermal overload.
Claims13
A loudspeaker parameter prediction system, comprising:
- a loudspeaker having a driver and a diaphragm;
- a non-linear excursion model configured to estimate non-linear excursion of the loudspeaker;
- an excursion limiter configured to receive a displacement calculation from the non-linear excursion model;
- a thermal model configured to:
- utilize frequency dependent parameters based on at least one thermal property of the loudspeaker;
- receive the displacement calculation from the excursion limiter to determine real-time temperature of the loudspeaker and impedance;
- and
- a gain adjustment thermal limiter configured to apply a gain reduction to an incoming audio signal based on the real-time temperature of the loudspeaker to protect the loudspeaker from thermal and excursion overload,
- wherein the gain adjustment thermal limiter includes a high frequency channel having a high frequency gain limiter and a low frequency channel having a low frequency gain limiter,
- wherein the thermal model includes a high frequency driver configured to provide high frequency parameters to the high frequency gain limiter, and a low frequency driver configured to provide low frequency parameters to the low frequency gain limiter.
