Integrated circuit design using generation and instantiation of circuit stencils

A computer system, comprising:

• a processor;
• and
• a memory, the memory comprising stored instructions, the instructions when executed by the processor cause the processor to:
• receive information describing parameters of components of a circuit segment;
• identify, based on the information, a subset of the components of the circuit segment, wherein a subset of the parameters of the subset of the components have same parameter values across the subset of the parameters;
• replace the subset of the parameters of the identified subset of the components with expressions representing the same parameter values;
• and
• generate a circuit stencil for the circuit segment comprising the expressions representing the same parameter values, the circuit stencil representing an abstracted version of the circuit segment.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions thereon, the instructions when executed by a processor cause the processor to:

• receive information describing parameters of components of a circuit segment;
• determine, from the information, parameter relationships between the parameters of the components of the circuit segment by:
• identifying a component of the circuit segment having a parameter value matching an aggregate expression including a parameter value of another component of the circuit segment, and
• replacing the parameter value of the identified component with the aggregate expression;
• and
• generate a circuit stencil from the parameter relationships between the parameters of the components of the circuit segment, the circuit stencil representing an abstracted version of the circuit segment.
