Abstract
An inter-axial inline fluid heater is presented. The inter-axial inline fluid heater includes an outer retaining sheath defining a first area, and an interior flow tube disposed within the outer sheath and capable of having fluid flow therethrough. Further, the interaxial inline fluid heater includes a resistance wire disposed between the interior flow tube and the outer retaining sheath, the resistance wire capable of producing heat for heating a fluid passing through the interior flow tube when power is applied to the resistance wire. Also includes is a dielectric heat transfer material disposed between the interior flow tube and the outer retaining sheath and surrounding at least a portion of the resistance wire.
Claims19
A fast response fluid heater, comprising:
- a flow body having an inner surface, a proximal end and a distal end defining an area therein;
- a first tube having a proximal end, a distal end, an inner surface and an outer surface, disposed within said flow body and defining a first area, wherein said first area is the area defined by the interior of said first tube;
- a second area defined by the area disposed between the outer surface of said first tube and the inner surface of said flow body, wherein fluid at the distal end of the first tube in said first area can freely communicate with fluid at the distal end of the flow body in said second area;
- a first orifice disposed within a surface of said flow body, said first orifice for allowing fluid communication between the exterior of said flow body and said second area;
- a second orifice disposed within a surface of said flow body, said second orifice for allowing fluid communication between the exterior of said flow body and said first area;
- wherein the first tube is connected to the flow body only via a sealing mechanism fixed between the proximal end of the first tube and the proximal end of the flow body;
- and
- wherein said first tube further comprises a heater element.
A fast response fluid heater comprising:
- a flow body having a proximal end and a distal and defining an area therein;
- a generally tubular element, having a proximal end and a distal end, disposed within said flow body, defining an exterior flow path having a proximal end and a distal end, and an interior flow path having a proximal end and a distal end, such that a fluid passes singularly along one of said interior flow path and said exterior flow path prior to entering an other one of said interior flow path and said exterior flow path;
- wherein said exterior flow path is disposed between the tubular element and the flow body;
- wherein said interior flow path is an area defined by the tubular element;
- wherein the tubular element further comprises a heater element;
- wherein the tubular element is fixed to the flow body through a sealing mechanism between the proximal end of the tubular element and the proximal end of the flow body;
- and
- wherein a fluid near the distal end of the exterior flow path and a fluid near the distal end of the interior flow path can freely communicate.
