Abstract
This disclosure relates to the use of one or more proteins (e.g., globular proteins) having a low isoelectric point and/or a limited number (e.g., zero) of modifying groups in nucleic acid polymerization and/or amplification reactions such as polymerase chain reaction (PCR).
Claims14
A method for detecting a target nucleic acid in a sample, said method comprising:
- a) forming a reaction mixture comprising at least one polymerase, a first primer, dNTPs, at least one protein having a low isoelectric point, and a second primer or a probe comprising a detectable label, wherein said reaction mixture is substantially free of a detergent;
- b) amplifying said target nucleic acid;
- and,
- c) detecting a signal generated from said detectable label indicative of the presence and/or amount of said target nucleic acid.
