Abstract
The invention relates to biotechnology and provides novel recombinant DNA molecules and engineered proteins for conferring tolerance to protoporphyrinogen oxidase-inhibitor herbicides. The invention also provides herbicide tolerant transgenic plants, seeds, cells, and plant parts containing the recombinant DNA molecules, as well as methods of using the same.
Claims22
A recombinant DNA molecule comprising a heterologous promoter operably linked to a nucleic acid molecule encoding a protein that has at least 95% sequence identity to the amino acid sequence of SEQ ID NO:6, wherein the protein has herbicide-insensitive protoporphyrinogen oxidase (PPO) activity, and wherein the heterologous promoter is functional in a plant cell.
