Abstract
Bacteriophage are provided, and methods of making and using the bacteriophage also are provided. The bacteriophage can be provided in a tobacco product, where the bacteriophage reduces the number of viable bacteria in the tobacco product and includes a nucleic acid sequence encoding an endolysin having at least 95% sequence identity to the nucleic acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 1 or to the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO: 2.
Claims11
A tobacco product comprising an effective amount of a composition, wherein the composition comprises a bacteriophage comprising a nucleic acid sequence encoding an endolysin, wherein the endolysin comprises at least 95% sequence identity to the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:
- 2, and wherein the effective amount is an amount of the bacteriophage that is sufficient to reduce the number of a viable bacteria in the tobacco product relative to a tobacco product in the absence of the composition.
A tobacco product comprising a polypeptide having at least 95% sequence identity to the amino acid sequence shown in SEQ ID NO:
- 2.
Dependencies are inferred from the claim text.
