Address extraction of a cluster configuration inception point

A non-transitory machine-readable media comprising program code for extracting an inception point address for a cluster configuration, the program code comprising executable instructions to:

• generate self-describing information for a first node, wherein the self-describing information includes a first network address;
• accumulate, at the first node, discovery packets received from other nodes of the cluster via a network, the discovery packets including other network addresses associated with the other nodes of the cluster;
• monitor a set of physical interfaces at the first node for a connected device compliant with a criterion;
• in response to detection of the compliant connected device, determine which of the other nodes and the first node are valid nodes for cluster configuration and select one of the valid nodes having a second network address from the accumulated discovery packets;
• to act as a cluster configuration inception point;
• and
• write the second network address to the compliant connected device as the inception point address for the cluster.

An apparatus comprising:

• a processor coupled to physical interfaces and a network interface;
• and
• a machine-readable medium having program code executable by the processor to cause the apparatus to,
• generate self-describing information for a first node of a cluster, wherein the self-describing information includes a first network address;
• accumulate, at the first node, discovery packets received from other nodes of the cluster via the network interface, the discovery packets including other network addresses associated with the other nodes of the cluster;
• monitor the physical interfaces for connection of a wireless adaptor;
• in response to detection of the connected wireless adaptor, determine which of the other nodes and the first node are valid nodes for cluster configuration and select one of the valid nodes having a second network address from the accumulated discovery packets, to act as a cluster configuration inception point;
• and
• configure a network name of the wireless adaptor to include the second network address so as to broadcast the cluster configuration inception point.
