Abstract
Providing mobile electric power comprising a power generation transport configured to convert hydrocarbon fuel to electricity and an inlet and exhaust transport configured to: couple to at least one side of the power generation transport such that the inlet and exhaust transport is not connected to a top side of the power generation transport, provide ventilation air and combustion air to the power generation transport, collect exhaust air from the power generation transport, and filter the exhaust air.
Claims19
A power generation transport comprising:
- an inlet plenum configured to collect air flow directed into the power generation transport;
- an exhaust collector configured to move exhaust air out of the power generation transport;
- and
- a power generation source coupled to the inlet plenum and the exhaust collector, wherein the power generation source is configured to convert at least one type of hydrocarbon fuel to electricity;
- wherein the power generation transport:
- is adapted to move independently relative to an inlet and exhaust transport when the power generation transport is in a transportation mode, and
- has a facing side that:
- (i) is a side along a longitudinal direction of the power generation transport, (ii) is adapted to face a facing side of the inlet and exhaust transport when the power generation transport is in an operational mode, and (iii) is adapted to be coupled with the facing side of the inlet and exhaust transport when the facing side of the power generation transport faces the facing side of the inlet and exhaust transport in the operational mode,
- wherein the inlet plenum and the exhaust collector are both provided on the facing side of the power generation transport, and
- wherein the power generation transport further comprises a first expansion connection that extends from the inlet plenum and a second expansion connection that extends from the exhaust collector, wherein the first and second expansion connections are adapted to respectively:
- (i) connect the inlet plenum and the exhaust collector of the power generation transport to an air inlet filter housing and an exhaust stack, respectively, of the inlet and exhaust transport in the operational mode without being supported by a mechanical apparatus external to the power generation transport and the inlet and exhaust transport, and (ii) disconnect the inlet plenum and the exhaust collector of the power generation transport from the air inlet filter housing and the exhaust stack of the inlet and exhaust transport to allow the power generation transport to move independently of the inlet and exhaust transport in the transportation mode.
A system for providing mobile electric power, the system comprising:
- a gas turbine generator transport comprising:
- an inlet plenum;
- and
- an exhaust collector;
- and
- an inlet and exhaust transport comprising:
- an air inlet filter housing;
- and
- an exhaust stack,
- wherein the gas turbine generator transport and the inlet and exhaust transport are separate transports that are independently movable,
- wherein the gas turbine generator transport and the inlet and exhaust transport are both configured to be positioned side-by-side to each other in an operational mode such that a facing side of the gas turbine generator transport faces a facing side of the inlet and exhaust transport, and
- wherein, in the operational mode, the air inlet filter housing is connected to the inlet plenum and the exhaust stack is connected to the exhaust collector between the facing sides of the gas turbine generator transport and the inlet and exhaust transport.
A mobile electric power generation apparatus comprising:
- a power generation transport configured to convert at least one type of hydrocarbon fuel to electricity, wherein the power generation transport comprises an inlet plenum and an exhaust collector;
- and
- an inlet and exhaust transport that moves independently relative to the power generation transport in a transportation mode and comprises an air inlet filter housing and an exhaust stack,
- wherein, in an operational mode, the inlet and exhaust transport is configured to:
- couple to a facing side of the power generation transport when the power generation transport and the inlet and exhaust transport are positioned side-by-side to each other such that the facing side of the power generation transport faces a facing side of the inlet and exhaust transport;
- provide air flow with the air inlet filter housing to the inlet plenum at the facing side of the power generation transport;
- and
- direct exhaust air with the exhaust stack, the exhaust air being received from the exhaust collector at the facing side of the power generation transport.
