## Abstract

Systems and/or methods for use in connection with digital downloading jukeboxes are provided. Such systems and/or methods may be used to provide enhanced communications capabilities, e.g., to registered users of jukeboxes. In certain exemplary embodiments, users may become registered users directly at a jukebox. Registered users also may, in certain exemplary embodiments, receive coupons for free plays, import playlists from hardware devices and/or software applications, receive special pricing when playing certain instances of media, play playlists in whole or in part, create and/or manage playlists directly at a jukebox, establish and manage connections with other registered users, etc. Still further, in certain exemplary embodiments, one or more channels may be predefined and/or set up for a jukebox.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A method of distributing a playlist to one or more pay-for-play digital jukeboxes connected to an audiovisual distribution network, the method comprising:
connecting a portable music player having a peripheral playlist stored in a computer-readable storage medium thereon to a pay-for-play digital jukebox, the peripheral playlist being in a first format interpretable by the portable music player;
logging in a first user to the digital jukebox or to the audiovisual distribution network;
enabling the first user, after the logging in, to build a playlist on the digital jukebox and to retrieve the peripheral playlist from the connected portable music player;
responsive to a command from the first user, retrieving the peripheral playlist for the digital jukebox if the first user is logged in and preventing said retrieving if the first user is not logged in;
converting the peripheral playlist to a jukebox playlist, the jukebox playlist being in a second format, different from the first format, that is interpretable by digital jukeboxes;
determining whether the jukebox playlist is designated as public or private;
based on whether the jukebox playlist is designated as public or private, configuring the jukebox playlist as public and accessible to all users or as private and accessible only to the first user; and
publishing the jukebox playlist at least to the digital jukebox so that the jukebox playlist is available for playback on and via the digital jukebox, the retrieving, the converting, the determining, and the configuring reducing an amount of reentering, reselecting and/or regrouping of information associated with the publishing of the jukebox playlist on the one or more pay-for-play digital jukeboxes,
wherein the jukebox playlist is different in scope than, and does not supplant, a master catalog of media available for playback via the digital jukebox.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein portable music player is at least one of: a portable music player, a computer, and a mobile phone.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising at least temporarily storing the peripheral playlist to a computer-readable storage medium of the digital jukebox.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising sending the jukebox playlist to a server of the audiovisual distribution network.

### Claim 5 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, further comprising making the jukebox playlist available to digital jukeboxes connected to the audiovisual distribution network.

### Claim 6 (depends on 4)

The method of claim 4, further comprising making the jukebox playlist available to remote devices connected to the audiovisual distribution network.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, wherein the portable music player is connectable to digital jukeboxes via a USB connection.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The method of claim 1, further comprising requiring a user to log into the digital jukebox before importing of the peripheral playlist is enabled.

### Claim 9

A method of distributing a playlist to one or more pay-for-play digital jukeboxes connected to an audiovisual distribution network, the method comprising:
logging in a first user to the digital jukebox or to the audiovisual distribution network;
retrieving a software application playlist associated with a software application used on a portable music player, for use on the digital jukebox, the software application playlist being in a first format interpretable by the software application, wherein the retrieving is enabled only if the first user is logged in and wherein the retrieving is prevented if the first user is not logged in;
enabling the first user, after the logging in, to build a playlist on the digital jukebox and to retrieve the software application playlist from the connected portable music player;
converting the software application playlist to a jukebox playlist, the jukebox playlist being in a second format, different from the first format, that is interpretable by digital jukeboxes;
determining whether the jukebox playlist is designated as public or private;
based on whether the jukebox playlist is designated as public or private, configuring the jukebox playlist as public and accessible to all users or as private and accessible only to the first user; and
publishing the jukebox playlist at least to the digital jukebox so that the jukebox playlist is available for playback on and via the digital jukebox, the retrieving, the converting, the determining, and the configuring reducing an amount of reentering, reselecting and/or regrouping of information associated with the publishing of the jukebox playlist on the one or more pay-for-play digital jukeboxes,
wherein the jukebox playlist is different in scope than, and does not supplant, a master catalog of media available for playback via the digital jukebox.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising at least temporarily storing the software application playlist to a computer-readable storage medium of the portable music player.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising determining whether the jukebox playlist is to be designated a public jukebox playlist or a private jukebox playlist.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising sending the software application playlist to a server of the audiovisual distribution network.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising sending the jukebox playlist to a server of the audiovisual distribution network.

### Claim 14 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, further comprising making the jukebox playlist available to digital jukeboxes connected to the audiovisual distribution network.

### Claim 15 (depends on 13)

The method of claim 13, further comprising making the jukebox playlist available to remote devices connected to the audiovisual distribution network.

### Claim 16 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising requiring a user to log into the portable music player before importing of the software application playlist is enabled.
