## Abstract

Glycine is an organic compound that can be used in the making of a synthetic base that obviates all the drawbacks of strong bases such as sodium hydroxide. The new compound is made by dissolving glycine in water and adding calcium hydroxide at a molar ration of about 1:1. Next, sodium percarbonate is dissolved in the solution to produce the new compound, which can be referred to as glycine hydroxide.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A synthetic base made by a process comprising:
mixing glycine with calcium hydroxide to produce a solution; and
adding sodium percarbonate to the solution.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The synthetic base as described in claim 1, wherein the glycine and the calcium hydroxide are mixed at a molar ratio of about 1:1.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The synthetic base as described in claim 2, wherein the sodium percarbonate is added at a concentration of about 25% by weight of the solution.

### Claim 4

A synthetic base for at least one of a cleaning solution and a sanitizing solution, the synthetic base made by a process comprising:
