Abstract
A method and system of controlling at least one printbar in a printing system are described. The printing system has one or more of printbars distributed along a media transport. A first image including a reference pattern is generated on a print medium with a first printbar. A pattern is then detected on the print medium. The reference pattern and the detected pattern are used to determine a position of the first image relative to a second printbar. This position is used to configure nozzle data for a second image to be generated on the print medium by the second printbar.
Claims15
A method of controlling a printbar in a printing system, comprising:
- generating, with a first printbar along a path of a print medium, a first image on the print medium, the first image including a reference pattern;
- detecting, along the path of the print medium, a pattern on the print medium;
- determining movement of the first image relative to a second printbar based on the detected pattern and the reference pattern;
- and
- configuring nozzle data, for a second image to be generated on the print medium by the second printbar, based on the movement of the first image relative to the second printbar.
A printing device comprising:
- a media transport defining a path of a print medium;
- one or more printbars distributed along the media transport, the one or more printbars being operable to provide:
- a first printbar to print a first image on a print medium, and
- a second printbar to print a second image on a print medium;
- a detector located to detect a pattern printed on a print medium by the first printbar;
- and
- at least one processing unit to:
- instruct the first printbar to print a reference pattern with the first image;
- determine a movement of the first image relative to the second printbar based on the pattern detected by the detector and the reference pattern;
- and
- configure nozzle data for the second printbar to locate the second image on the print medium based on the movement of the first image relative to the second printbar.
