Abstract
A method is provided for reworking a component. The method includes at least partially filling a cavity in a non-fusion weldable base alloy with a multiple of layers of a multiple of laser powder deposition spots formed of a filler alloy. Each of the multiple of laser powder deposition spots at least partially overlaps at least one of another of the multiple of laser powder deposition spots. The filler alloy may be different than the non-fusion weldable base alloy.
Claims17
A method of reworking a component, comprising:
- at least partially filling a cavity in a non-fusion weldable base alloy with a multiple of layers of a multiple of laser powder deposition spots formed of a filler alloy, each of the multiple of laser powder deposition spots at least partially overlapping at least one of another of the multiple of laser powder deposition spots;
- wherein the filler alloy is different than the non-fusion weldable base alloy;
- wherein the cavity extends into the non-fusion weldable base alloy from a surface;
- and
- wherein a first of the multiple of laser powder deposition spots has a circular cross-sectional geometry when viewed in a plane parallel to a plane of the surface.

A method, comprising:
- providing a component configured with a surface and a cavity extending into the component from the surface, the component comprising non-fusion weldable base alloy;
- disposing a plurality of layers of laser powder deposition spots within the cavity, the laser powder deposition spots comprising a first spot, a second spot, a third spot and a fourth spot;
- wherein the first spot contacts and partially overlaps the second spot and the third spot in a lateral direction;
- wherein the first spot contacts and partially overlaps the fourth spot in a transverse direction that is perpendicular to the lateral direction;
- and
- wherein the laser powder deposition spots comprise filler alloy that is different than the non-fusion weldable base alloy.
3 more elements
A method, comprising:
- providing a component configured with a surface and a cavity extending into the component from the surface, the component comprising non-fusion weldable base alloy;
- disposing a plurality of layers of filler alloy within the cavity, the filler alloy different than the non-fusion weldable base alloy, each of the plurality of layers of filler alloy comprising a plurality of laser powder deposition spots, and each of the plurality of laser powder deposition spots at least partially overlapping another one of the plurality of laser powder deposition spots;
- wherein a width of a first of the plurality of laser powder deposition spots along a first axis is equal to a width of the first of the plurality of laser powder deposition spots along a second axis that is perpendicular to the first axis;
- and
- wherein the first axis and the second axis define a plane that is parallel to a plane of the surface.
