Abstract
An adapter constructed to have a proximal portion that interfaces with the internal lumen of a medical device and a distal portion that modifies, augments or extends the configuration or intended use of the medical device. The proximal portion of the adapter interfaces with the internal lumen of the medical device in a manner to secure the adapter to the medical device during use. The distal portion of the adapter is generally outside the lumen of the catheter or device.
Claims19
An adapter for a medical device catheter, said adapter comprises:
- a proximal portion and a distal portion;
- an attachment mechanism positioned at the proximal portion of the adapter, said attachment mechanism adapted to couple said adapter to a surface of an inner lumen of a distal end of a medical device catheter, said attachment mechanism comprises a coil;
- and
- a distal portion of the adapter extends beyond the distal portion of the medical device catheter when coupled together, wherein a surface of said coil directly engages with said surface of said inner lumen of the distal end of the medical device catheter, and wherein said attachment mechanism further comprises an elongated element, wherein a portion of said coil is attached to a portion of said elongated element at the outside surface of said elongated element, said elongated element connects said attachment mechanism to said distal portion of said adapter.

An adapter for a medical device catheter, said adapter comprises:
- a proximal portion and a distal portion;
- an attachment mechanism positioned at the proximal portion of the adapter, said attachment mechanism adapted to couple said adapter to a surface of an inner lumen of a di staff end of a medical device catheter, said attachment mechanism comprises a coil;
- and
- a distal portion of the adapter extends beyond the distal portion of the medical device catheter when coupled together, wherein a surface of said coil directly engages with said surface of said inner lumen of the distal end of the medical device catheter, and wherein a portion of said coil is received in a cavity of said distal portion of said adapter.
