Abstract
A system and method enabling the receipt of image data of a patient, identification of one or more locations within the image data depicting symptoms of lung disease, analyzing airways and vasculature proximate the identified locations, planning a pathway to the one or more locations, navigating an extended working channel to one of the locations, identifying the direction of blood flow within vasculature serving the location, positioning a catheter proximate the location, and temporarily isolating a portion of the identified vasculature serving the location depicting symptoms of lung disease.
Claims8
A system, comprising:
- a memory storing one or more images of a patient and one or more software applications;
- a display presenting the one or more images of the patient;
- a user interface presented on the display in combination with the displayed one or more images of a patient enabling the identification of one or more image locations depicting symptoms of lung disease and the identification of vascular structure within a patient's lungs serving the identified image locations;
- an extended working channel navigatable to one or more actual locations within a patient corresponding to the one or more image locations;
- a processor, executing one of the one or more software applications to identify the direction of blood flow within the identified vascular structure of a patient's lungs;
- and
- a catheter, extendible through the extended working channel to temporarily isolate a portion of the identified vascular structure within a patient serving the one or more image locations depicting symptoms of lung disease.
