Monitoring system

An apparatus for performing impedance measurements on a subject, the apparatus including:

• a signal generator coupled to electrodes configured to be placed on a subject;
• a sensor coupled to electrodes configured to be placed on a subject;
• a processing system configured to:
• perform configuration by:
• receiving configuration data from an external system, the configuration data being indicative of at least one feature, the configuration data comprising instructions representing applications software or firmware;
• determining, using the configuration data, instructions representing the at least one feature;
• and,
• causing, using the instructions, at least one of:
• at least one impedance measurement to be performed;
• and,
• at least one impedance measurement to be analysed;
• and
• perform impedance measurements by:
• generating control signals to thereby cause the signal generator to generate one or more alternating signals which are applied to the subject via the drive electrodes;
• receiving an indication of sensed signals through the subject from the sensor;
• and,
• determining impedance values at least in part using the indication of the sensed signals.

A system for performing impedance measurements on a subject, the system including:

• a first processing system coupled to a signal generator and a sensor, the signal generator and the sensor being coupled to respective electrodes provided in contact with the subject in use, the first processing system configured to:
• receive configuration data from an external system, the configuration data being indicative of at least one feature;
• determine, using the configuration data, instructions representing the at least one feature;
• and
• generates control signals which causes the signal generator to generate one or more alternating signals which are applied to the subject via the electrodes, and the sensor configured to determine voltage across or current through the subject, using the electrodes, and transfer appropriate signals to the first processing system;
• and
• a second processing system in wireless communication with the first processing system, the second processing system configured to analyze the impedance values based on an indication of the signals which are applied to the subject and the voltage across or current through the subject, and wherein the system is configured to measure and record at least one of:
• changes in fluid levels, body composition and diagnosis of the presence, absence or degree of at least one of oedema, pulmonary oedema, lymphodema, and cardiac function.

A system for performing impedance measurements on a subject, the system comprising:

• a plurality of electrodes configured to be placed in contact with skin of the subject;
• a signal generator coupled to at least a first subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• a sensor coupled to at least a second subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• and
• a first processing system configured to:
• receive configuration data from an external system, the configuration data being indicative of at least one feature, the configuration data comprising instructions representing applications software or firmware;
• generate control signals to cause the signal generator to generate one or more alternating signals which are applied to the subject via the first subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• receive an indication of sensed signals through the subject from the sensor;
• and
• communicate information relating to the indication of sensed signals to a second processing system after receiving the indication of sensed signals, the second processing system comprising a smart phone, and wherein the system is configured to measure and record at least one of:
• changes in fluid levels, body composition and diagnosis of the presence, absence or degree of at least one of oedema, pulmonary oedema, lymphodema, and cardiac function.

A system for performing impedance measurements on a subject, the system comprising:

• a plurality of electrodes configured to be placed in contact with the skin of the subject;
• a signal generator coupled to at least a first subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• a sensor coupled to at least a second subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• and
• a first processing system configured to:
• receive configuration data from an external system, the configuration data being indicative of at least one feature, the configuration data comprising instructions representing applications software or firmware;
• generate control signals to cause the signal generator to generate one or more alternating signals which are applied to the subject via the first subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• receive an indication of sensed signals through the subject from the sensor;
• and
• wirelessly communicate information relating to the indication of sensed signals to an external processing system after receiving the indication of sensed signals, wherein the system is configured to measure and record changes in fluid levels.

A system for performing impedance measurements on a subject, the system comprising:

• a plurality of electrodes configured to be placed in contact with the skin of the subject;
• a signal generator coupled to at least a first subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• a sensor coupled to at least a second subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• and
• a first processing system configured to:
• receive configuration data from an external system, the configuration data being indicative of at least one feature, the configuration data comprising instructions representing applications software or firmware;
• generate control signals to cause the signal generator to generate one or more alternating signals which are applied to the subject via the first subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• receive an indication of sensed signals through the subject from the sensor;
• and
• wirelessly communicate information relating to the indication of sensed signals to an external processing system after receiving the indication of sensed signals, wherein the system is configured to record diagnoses of the presence, absence or degree of at least one of oedema, pulmonary oedema, lymphodema, and cardiac function.

A system for performing impedance measurements on a subject, the system comprising:

• a plurality of electrodes configured to be placed in contact with the skin of the subject;
• a signal generator coupled to at least a first subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• a sensor coupled to at least a second subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• and
• a first processing system configured to:
• receive configuration data from an external system, the configuration data being indicative of at least one feature, the configuration data comprising instructions representing applications software or firmware;
• generate control signals to cause the signal generator to generate one or more alternating signals which are applied to the subject via the first subset of the plurality of electrodes;
• receive an indication of sensed signals through the subject from the sensor;
• and
• wirelessly communicate information relating to the indication of sensed signals to an external processing system after receiving the indication of sensed signals, wherein the system is configured to measure and record changes in body composition.
