Abstract
A novel sorghum variety designated PH1699FW and seed, plants and plant parts thereof are provided. Methods for producing a plant comprise crossing sorghum variety PH1699FW with another plant. Sorghum seed, plants and plant parts produced by crossing sorghum variety PH1699FW with another plant are described. Methods for producing a plant containing in its genetic material one or more traits introgressed into PH1699FW include one or both of backcross conversion and transformation. Hybrid sorghum seed, plants or plant parts produced by crossing the sorghum variety PH1699FW or a locus conversion of PH1699FW with another sorghum variety are disclosed.
Claims20
A seed of sorghum variety PH1699FW, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-125662.
A method of plant breeding, the method comprising:
- (a) crossing a plant of sorghum variety PH1699FW with a second plant comprising a desired single locus to produce F1 progeny plants, representative seed of said sorghum variety PH1699FW having been deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-125662;
- (b) selecting at least a first progeny plant from step (a) that comprises the single locus to produce a selected progeny plant;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plant from step (b) with a plant of sorghum variety PH1699FW to produce a backcross progeny plant that comprises the single locus.
A plant, non-seed plant part, seed, or plant cell of sorghum variety PH1699FW, representative seed of the variety having been deposited under ATCC accession number PTA-125662, the plant, non-seed plant part, seed, or plant cell further comprising a single locus conversion, wherein the single locus conversion is introduced into sorghum variety PH1699FW by backcrossing or transformation and wherein (i) the seed produces a plant which has otherwise all of the phenotypic and morphological characteristics of sorghum variety PH1699FW;
- (ii) the plant has otherwise all of the phenotypic and morphological characteristics of sorghum variety PH1699FW;
- or (iii) the non-seed plant part or cell produces a plant which has otherwise all of the phenotypic and morphological characteristics of sorghum variety PH1699FW.
