## Abstract

A system for computational localization of fibrillation sources is provided. In some implementations, the system performs operations comprising generating a representation of electrical activation of a patient's heart and comparing, based on correlation, the generated representation against one or more stored representations of hearts to identify at least one matched representation of a heart. The operations can further comprise generating, based on the at least one matched representation, a computational model for the patient's heart, wherein the computational model includes an illustration of one or more fibrillation sources in the patient's heart. Additionally, the operations can comprise displaying, via a user interface, at least a portion of the computational model. Related systems, methods, and articles of manufacture are also described.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A system comprising:
at least one processor; and
at least one memory storing instructions which, when executed by the at least one processor, cause operations comprising:
accessing simulated representations of electrical activations of a heart, each simulated representation simulated based on a computational model of a model library of computational models that are not patient-specific, the computational models generated based on heart models with varying fibrillation source locations, shapes of a heart, and disease substrates, the simulated representations being vectorcardiograms (VCGs), each computational model being associated with a fibrillation source location of the heart model that the generation of that computational model is based on;
accessing a generated representation of electrical activations of a patient's heart, the generated representation being a VCG generated from an electrocardiogram of the patient;
comparing the generated representation against the simulated representations to identify a matched simulated representation;
identifying a fibrillation source location associated with the computational model that the simulation of the matched simulated representation of the heart is based on; and
displaying, via a user interface, an indication of the identified fibrillation source location as a potential fibrillation source location of the patient
wherein the identified fibrillation source location is identified without using a patient-specific model of the patient's heart.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the comparing comprises determining, for each of the simulated representations, a correlation factor between the generated representation and the simulated representation, and wherein the matched simulated representation is identified as the simulated representation with a highest correlation factor.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the operations further comprise:
generating a plurality of simulated representations based on varying shapes, geometries, fiber orientations, scars, fibrillation source types, and/or fibrillation source locations;
filtering, based on a physical characteristic of the patient's heart, the plurality of simulated representations to identify a filtered set
wherein the comparing compares the generated representation to the simulated representations of the filtered set.

### Claim 4 (depends on 3)

The system of claim 3, wherein the filtering is based on computerized tomography imaging data, magnetic resonance imaging data, echocardiography data, X-ray data, or fluoroscopy data.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein the simulated representations are generated from a computational model for simulating electrical activations in one or more of a left atrium, a right atrium, a left ventricle, and a right ventricle, and wherein the fibrillation source locations are within one or more of the left atrium, the right atrium, the left ventricle, and the right ventricle.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The system of claim 1, wherein each simulated representation is generated from a computational model that generates activation values of three-dimensional meshes in a heart or torso shape and a finite state fibrillatory source map of cardiac electrical activations mapped to the meshes.

### Claim 7

A method performed by a computer system, the method comprising:
accessing simulated representations of electrical activations of a heart, each simulated representation simulated based on a computational model of a model library of computational models that are not patient-specific, the computational models generated based on heart models with varying fibrillation source locations, shapes of a heart, and disease substrates, the simulated representations being vectorcardiograms (VCGs), each computational model being associated with a fibrillation source location of the heart model that the generation of that computational model is based on;
generating a representation of electrical activations of a patient's heart, the generated representation being a VCG generated from an electrocardiogram of the patient;
comparing the generated representation against the simulated representations to identify a matched simulated representation;
identifying a fibrillation source location associated with the computational model that the simulation of the matched simulated representation of the heart is based on; and
displaying, via a user interface, an indication of the identified fibrillation source location as a potential fibrillation source location of the patient
wherein the identified fibrillation source location is identified without using a patient-specific model of the patient's heart.

### Claim 8 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7, wherein the comparing comprises determining, for each of the simulated representations, a correlation factor between the generated representation and the simulated representation, and wherein the matched simulated representation is identified as the simulated representation with a highest correlation factor.

### Claim 9 (depends on 7)

The method of claim 7 further comprising:
generating a plurality of simulated representations based on varying shapes, geometries, fiber orientations, scars, fibrillation source types, and/or fibrillation source locations;
