Method for transmitting and receiving signals in proximity network and electronic device thereof

An electronic device operating as a master in a neighbor awareness networking (NAN) cluster, the electronic device comprising:

• a communication interface;
• a memory storing instructions;
• and
• one or more processor, operably coupled to the communication interface and the memory, configured to execute the stored instructions to:
• transmit a discovery signal outside of at least one of a discovery window (DW);
• after transmitting the discovery signal, determine to perform a concurrent operation outside of a DW;
• change, in response to determining to perform the concurrent operation outside of the DW, a master preference of the electronic device, wherein the electronic device operates as a non-master in the NAN cluster after changing the master preference of the electronic device;
• and
• transmit a signal including information regarding the changed master preference of the electronic device to indicate that the electronic device operates as the non-master in the NAN cluster after changing the master preference of the electronic device.

A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing instructions executable by a processor of an electronic device, operating as a master in a neighbor awareness networking (NAN) cluster, to cause the processor to perform a method, the method comprising:

• controlling to transmit a discovery signal outside of at least one of a discovery window (DW);
• after controlling to transmit the discovery signal, controlling to determine to perform a concurrent operation outside of a DW;
• controlling to change a master preference of the electronic device, in response to determining to perform the concurrent operation outside of the DW, wherein the electronic device operates as a non-master in the NAN cluster after changing the master preference of the electronic device;
• and
• controlling to transmit a signal including information regarding the changed master preference of the electronic device to indicate that the electronic device operates as the non-master in the NAN cluster after changing of the master preference of the electronic device.
