## Abstract

A microscope scanner is provided comprising a detector array for obtaining an image from a sample and a sample holder configured to move relative to the detector array. The sample holder can be configured to move to a plurality of target positions relative to the detector array in accordance with position control signals issued by a controller and the detector array is configured to capture images during an imaging scan based on the position control signals.

## Claims

### Claim 1

A microscope scanner comprising:
a detector array comprising a line scan camera for obtaining an image from a sample;
a sample holder adapted to hold the sample when in use, the sample holder being configured to move relative to the detector array; and
a controller configured to issue position control signals so as to control the relative position of the sample holder;
a motor configured to drive
the sample holder to a plurality of target positions relative to the detector array during an imaging scan in accordance with the position control signals, and wherein the controller is configured to capture an image line with the line scan camera each time the sample holder moves a pre-determined distance, and wherein the image line is captured while the sample holder is in motion based on the position control signals issued during the imaging scan.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The microscope scanner of claim 1, wherein the plurality of target positions corresponds to a target velocity profile comprising pre-determined velocity-time trajectories for the sample motion.

### Claim 3 (depends on 2)

The microscope scanner of claim 2, wherein the target velocity profile is stored on a memory accessible by the controller.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The microscope scanner of claim 1, wherein the motor is a stepper motor having an associated step count, and wherein image capture is triggered in accordance with said step count.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The microscope scanner of claim 1, wherein the motor is a servomotor.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The microscope scanner of claim 1, wherein the controller is further configured to monitor the position of the sample holder.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The microscope scanner of claim 1, wherein the controller is further adapted to combine images captured by the detector array into an aggregate image.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The microscope scanner of claim 1, wherein the controller is further adapted to map images captured during an imaging scan with respective monitored positions for each image onto a regular image grid for substantially equally spaced images using an interpolation technique.

### Claim 9

A method for imaging a sample using a microscope scanner comprising:
a detector array comprising a line scan camera for obtaining an image from the sample,
a sample holder adapted to hold the sample when in use, said sample holder being configured to move relative to the detector array, and a controller configured to issue position control signals so as to control the position of the sample holder, the method comprising:
issuing position control signals so as to continuously move the sample holder to a plurality of target positions relative to the detector array during an imaging scan; and
capturing an image line of the sample using the line scan camera each time the sample holder moves a pre-determined distance, wherein the capturing occurs while the sample holder is in motion based on the position control signals issued during the imaging scan.

### Claim 10 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, wherein the sample is moved according to a target velocity profile.

### Claim 11 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising monitoring the position of the sample holder.

### Claim 12 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising combining images of the sample obtained at the plurality of target positions into an aggregate image of the sample.

### Claim 13 (depends on 9)

The method of claim 9, further comprising mapping images at the plurality of target positions with monitored positions for each image onto a regular image grid for substantially equally spaced images using an interpolation technique.
