## Abstract

Methods and compositions comprising an emulsion or a microemulsion for use in various aspects of the life cycle of an oil and/or gas well are provided. In some embodiments, the emulsion or the microemulsion comprises water, a solvent, and a surfactant, and optionally, one or more additives.

## Claims

### Claim 1

An emulsion or a microemulsion composition for use in an oil and/or gas well having a wellbore, wherein the emulsion or the microemulsion composition comprises:
water;
a solvent; and
a surfactant, wherein the surfactant has a structure as in Formula I:
wherein each of R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 are the same or different and are selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, optionally substituted alkyl, and CH═CHAr, provided at least one of R7, R8, R9, R10, and R11 is —CH═CHAr;
Ar is an aryl group;
R12 is hydrogen or alkyl;
n is 1-100; and
m is 1.

### Claim 2 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein the surfactant comprises a styrylphenol ethoxylate surfactant.

### Claim 3 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein R7 is —CH═CHAr.

### Claim 4 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein R8 is —CH═CHAr.

### Claim 5 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein R9 is —CH═CHAr.

### Claim 6 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein R10 is hydrogen.

### Claim 7 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein R11 is hydrogen.

### Claim 8 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein R12 is hydrogen.

### Claim 9 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein n=10.

### Claim 10 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein R12 is a C1-6 alkyl.

### Claim 11 (depends on 1)

The composition as in claim 1, wherein R12 is methyl or ethyl.
