An expression cassette for producing cinnamaldehyde, the expression cassette comprising a pal (phenylalanine ammonia lyase) gene of Streptomyces maritimus, a 4cl (4-coumarate:CoA ligase) gene of Streptomyces coelicolor, and a ccr (cinnamoyl Co-A reductase) gene of Arabidopsis thaliana, wherein
