Abstract
Provided herein are klotho polypeptide compositions and methods for improving cognitive function in an individual comprising treatment of with klotho polypeptides.
Claims15
A method for treating cognitive decline in an subject in need thereof, comprising systemically administering to the subject a pharmaceutical composition that contains an effective amount of a polypeptide that includes at least the KL1 domain of human klotho (SEQ ID NO:1), with the proviso that the polypeptide is not a fusion protein that also contains a fibroblast growth factor (FGF),
- wherein the administering of the pharmaceutical composition systemically improves cognitive function in the subject or prevents, inhibits, or decreases the rate of the cognitive decline in the subject.
