Abstract
The present invention provides a method of treating a subject afflicted with hyperpigmentation or of lightening the skin tone of a subject comprising administering to the subject an amount of a compound having the structure: or a salt or ester thereof, so as to thereby treat the subject or lighten the skin tone of the subject.
Claims20
A method of treating a subject afflicted with hyperpigmentation comprising topically administering to the subject in need of such treatment an effective amount of a compound having the structure:
- wherein
- R3, R4, R8 and R9 are each independently, H or —OR28;
- wherein R28 is H or C1-10 alkyl;
- and
- R14 is —NR16R17,
- wherein R16 and R17 are each, independently, H or aryl;
- wherein the aryl is a phenyl;
- wherein each occurrence of alkyl is unsubstituted, or a salt or ester thereof, so as to thereby treat the subject.
A method of lightening the skin tone of a subject comprising topically administering to the subject in need of such treatment an effective amount of a compound having the structure:
- wherein
- R3, R4, R8 and R9 are each independently, H or —OR28;
- wherein R28 is H or C1-10 alkyl;
- and
- R14 is —NR16R17,s
- wherein R16 and R17 are each, independently, H or aryl;
- wherein the aryl is a phenyl;
- wherein each occurrence of alkyl is unsubstituted, or a salt or ester thereof, so as to thereby treat the subject.
A method of inhibiting melanogenesis for reducing skin melanin levels in a subject comprising topically administering to the subject in need of such treatment an effective amount of a compound having the structure:
- wherein
- R3, R4, R8 and R9 are each independently, H or −OR28;
- wherein R28 is H or C1-10 alkyl;
- and
- R14 is —NR16R17,s
- wherein R16 and R17 are each, independently, H or aryl;
- wherein the aryl is a phenyl;
- wherein each occurrence of alkyl is unsubstituted, or a salt or ester thereof, so as to thereby treat the subject.
