Abstract
A caloric heat pump system includes a pair of caps mounted to a regenerator housing. Each cap of the pair of caps defines an inlet and an outlet. The outlet of each cap of the pair of caps is positioned at a chamber of the regenerator housing. The inlet and outlet of each cap of the pair of caps defines an area in a respective plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction. The area of the inlet of each cap of the pair of caps is less than the area of the outlet of each cap of the pair of caps.
Claims20
A caloric heat pump system, comprising:
- a regenerator housing defining a longitudinal direction, the regenerator housing comprising a body that defines a chamber, the regenerator housing extending between a first end portion and a second end portion along the longitudinal direction;
- a stage comprising a caloric material disposed within the chamber between the first and second end portions of the regenerator housing;
- a first cap mounted to the regenerator housing at the first end portion of the regenerator housing, the first cap defining an inlet and an outlet, the outlet of the first cap positioned at the chamber, the inlet and outlet of the first cap each defining an area in a respective plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the area of the inlet of the first cap being less than the area of the outlet of the first cap;
- and
- a second cap mounted to the regenerator housing at the second end portion of the regenerator housing, the second cap defining an inlet and an outlet, the outlet of the second cap positioned at the chamber, the inlet and outlet of the second cap each defining an area in a respective plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the area of the inlet of the second cap being less than the area of the outlet of the second cap.
A caloric heat pump system, comprising:
- a regenerator housing defining a longitudinal direction, the regenerator housing comprising a body that defines a chamber;
- a stage comprising a caloric material disposed within the chamber;
- a pair of caps mounted to the regenerator housing, the stage disposed between the caps of the pair of caps along the longitudinal direction, each cap of the pair of caps defining an inlet and an outlet, the outlet of each cap of the pair of caps positioned at the chamber, the inlet and outlet of each cap of the pair of caps defining an area in a respective plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal direction, the area of the inlet of each cap of the pair of caps being less than the area of the outlet of each cap of the pair of caps.
