The present invention discloses novel difunctional monomers compound containing pendant clickable furyl group of formula (I), process for the preparation and polymers prepared there from. wherein, X is selected from —COOCH3, —COOH, —CON3, —NCO, —CONHNH2, —CH2OH n is selected from 2 to 12.

A difunctional monomer compound containing clickable pendant furyl group of general formula (I);

A process for the preparation of polyurethane from the compound of formula (I), wherein the said process for the preparation of polyurethane comprises heating the reaction mixture comprising diacyl azide monomer of formula (I) in toluene for 3 h at 70 to 90 ° C. followed by the addition of catalyst and diol dissolved in toluene and further heating the mixture for the period in the range of 7 to 9 h at the same temperature.
