An emergence apparatus, comprising:
- a vessel having an interior space to receive water and insect pupae;
- a first release container connected to the vessel;
- a first sensor positioned proximate to the first release container to detect an adult insect passing by the first sensor and into the first release container;
- and
- a first shutter positioned proximate to an entrance to the first release container, the first shutter having an open position and a closed position to control access between the vessel and the first release container.
An emergence apparatus, comprising:
- a vessel having an interior space to receive water and insect pupae;
- a passageway, the passageway connecting the vessel to a release container;
- a sensor positioned proximate to the release container to detect an adult insect passing by the sensor and into the release container;
- a shutter positioned in the passageway, the shutter having an open position and a closed position to control access between the vessel and the release container;
- and
- a computing device configured to receive an input signal from the sensor.
