Abstract
A method for recovering synthetic oils from a feed stream, the method comprising separating at least a portion of the non-synthetic oil constituents from a commingled stream to produce a partially purified synthetic oil stream and one or more contaminant streams. Extracting at least a portion of the synthetic oil from the partially purified synthetic oil stream to produce a synthetic oil stream and a second contaminant stream.
Claims17
A method for recovering synthetic oils from a feed stream, the method comprising:
- separating at least a portion of the non-synthetic oil constituents from a commingled stream producing a partially purified synthetic oil stream and one or more contaminant streams;
- and
- separating at least a portion of the synthetic oil from the partially purified synthetic oil stream by solvent extraction with solvent having less than 0.1 percent absorbed water to produce a synthetic oil stream and a second contaminant stream.
A method for recovering synthetic oils from a feed stream, the method comprising:
- a) separating at least a portion of the non-synthetic oil constituents from a commingled stream producing a partially purified synthetic oil stream and one or more contaminant streams;
- b) separating at least a portion of the synthetic oil from the partially purified synthetic oil stream by solvent extraction with solvent having less than 0.1 percent absorbed water to produce a synthetic oil stream and a second contaminant stream;
- c) separating a first solvent stream from the synthetic oil stream and/or separating a second solvent stream from the second contaminant stream;
- d) subjecting the first separated solvent stream and/or a portion of the second separated solvent stream to dehydration processing to reduce amount of absorbed water to less than 0.1%;
- and
- e) recycling at least a portion of the dehydrated solvent stream to the solvent extraction in step b).
