Abstract
The subject invention pertains to myricanol derivatives, therapeutic compositions, and methods for treatment of neurodegenerative diseases, in particular, neurodegenerative diseases associated with abnormal accumulation of protein tau.
Claims17
A compound having the chemical structure of formula B or C or a salt thereof:
- wherein each of R1-R4 of formula B or formula C is, independently, —H or any group that forms an ester or ether bond.
A method of reducing intracellular tau levels, wherein said method comprises administering, to cells comprising protein tau, an effective amount of a compound of formula B:
- wherein each of R1-R4 of formula B is, independently, —H or any group that forms an ester or ether bond;
- whereby intracellular tau level is reduced.
