This invention is directed to novel mixed transition metal iron (II/III) catalysts for the extraction of oxygen from CO2 and the selective reaction with organic compounds.

A mixed metal iron (II/III) oxide catalyst for catalyzing partial oxidation of either carbon or an organic compound wherein the mixed metal iron (II/III) oxide catalyst has the formula of Fe2O3(SnO2)0.1-10(Al2O3)0.1-10.
