Abstract
Provided is a formulation for oral teeth, which includes a plurality of calcium ion carriers and a plurality of calcium-containing particulates. The particulates are carried by the calcium ion carriers, such that the formulation can prevent or rapidly treat dentin-associated symptoms or diseases, while providing a prolonged prophylactic or therapeutic effect.
Claims17
A method for treating a dentin-associated symptom or disease in a subject in need thereof, comprising administering a formulation to an oral cavity of the subject, wherein the formulation comprises:
- a plurality of calcium ion carriers which are silicon dioxide microparticles having a plurality of pores;
- a plurality of calcium-containing particulates composed of calcium carbonate wherein the calcium-containing particulates are carried by the calcium ion carriers and adhered into the plurality of pores of the microparticles;
- and
- an acidic solution for releasing calcium ions from the calcium-containing particulates carried by the calcium ion carriers for forming precipitation deep in dentinal tubules,
- wherein the silicon dioxide microparticles have particle diameters in a range of from 0.1 μm to 100 μm, the plurality of pores have pore diameters in a range of from 1 nm to 100 nm, and the formulation has a pH value in a range of from 2 to 6.
