Starter issue detection

A system for detecting and responding to issues with an integrated aircraft turbine starter comprising:

• an integrated aircraft turbine starter, the integrated air turbine starter configured to start the engine, the integrated air turbine starter comprising an air turbine starter, a starter air valve integrated with the air turbine starter, the integrated air turbine starter comprising at least one stationary portion and at least one rotating portion, and the starter air valve configured to regulate a fluid flow to an air turbine motor;
• one or more sensors placed on the at least one stationary portion to monitor the at least one rotating portion of the integrated air turbine starter;
• and
• one or more controllers,
• wherein the one or more sensors are configured to sense a frequency and communicate a signal indicative of the sensed frequency to the one or more controllers, and
• wherein the one or more controllers are configured to:
• determine an anomaly based on the signal indicative of the sensed frequency;
• and
• regulate a fluid flow from the starter air valve to the air turbine motor based at least in part on the anomaly.

An aerial vehicle comprising:

• an integrated aircraft turbine starter, the integrated air turbine starter configured to start the engine, the integrated air turbine starter comprising an air turbine starter, a starter air valve integrated with the air turbine starter, the integrated air turbine starter comprising at least one stationary portion and at least one rotating portion, and the starter air valve configured to regulate a fluid flow to an air turbine motor;
• one or more sensors placed on the at least one stationary portion to monitor the at least one rotating portion of the integrated air turbine starter;
• and
• one or more controllers,
• wherein the one or more sensors are configured to sense a frequency and communicate a signal indicative of the sensed frequency to the one or more controllers, and
• wherein the one or more controllers are configured to:
• determine an anomaly based on the signal indicative of the sensed frequency;
• and
• regulate a fluid flow from the starter air valve to the air turbine motor based at least in part on the anomaly.
