Facilitating communication of radio resource quality to a mobile application

A method, comprising:

• requesting, by a mobile device coupled to a processor, class information for a radio of a base station device to which the mobile device is communicatively coupled;
• and
• determining, by the mobile device, a bit rate at which to execute an application at the mobile device, wherein the determining is based on receiving the class information from a control device, wherein the class information is a function of loading at the radio and a mobility parameter of the radio, and wherein the loading refers to an amount of data being handled by the radio, wherein the determining the bit rate obviates a need for the mobile device to test for throughput of a radio link communicatively coupled to the mobile device.

A non-transitory machine-readable storage medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processor, facilitate performance of operations, comprising:

• determining a peak-to-average loading ratio of a loading of a radio of a base station device and a mobility factor of the radio, wherein the loading is indicative of an amount of data being processed by the radio;
• and
• determining class information for the radio of the base station device, wherein the class information comprises a first value indicative of the peak-to-average loading ratio and a second value indicative of the mobility factor of the radio, wherein the class information is correlatable to a bit rate at which an application is to be executed on a mobile device of mobile devices, and wherein the mobile device of mobile devices is communicatively coupled to the radio, wherein the determining the class information obviates a need for the mobile device to test for latency of a radio link communicatively coupled to the mobile device.
