Abstract
An imaging sensor produces spatiotemporal measurement sets of distinct sensing zones of the imaging sensor. A multifocal lens directs electromagnetic radiation from distinct three-dimensional spatial zones to distinct sensing zones. A focus analyzer processes the spatiotemporal measurement sets to determine a sequence of in-focus status of the distinct sensing zones independent of other distinct sensing zones. A displacement processor generates object displacement vector(s) based on a sequence of in-focus status indicative of an object moving between distinct three-dimensional spatial zones.
Claims20
An apparatus, comprising:
- an imaging sensor configured to produce at least one set of spatiotemporal measurements of each of at least two distinct sensing zones of the imaging sensor, wherein each of the at least two distinct sensing zones comprises at least two pixels;
- at least one multifocal lens configured to direct electromagnetic radiation, from each of at least two distinct three-dimensional spatial zones, to at least one of the at least two distinct three-dimensional spatial zones;
- a focus analyzer configured to process each of the at least one set of spatiotemporal measurements to determine a sequence of in-focus status of each of the at least one of the distinct sensing zones independent of other distinct sensing zones;
- and
- a displacement processor configured to generate at least one object displacement vector, based at least in part, on a sequence of in-focus status indicative of an object moving between at least two of the at least two distinct three-dimensional spatial zones.
