Analyzing tracking requests generated by client devices interacting with a website

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium having instructions encoded thereon that, when executed by a processor, cause the processor to perform the steps including:

• receiving, by an online system, a plurality of tracking requests from one or more client devices, each tracking request received responsive to a client device of the one or more client devices presenting a web page received from a website, the web page comprising tracking instructions for generating tracking requests responsive to rendering the web page on the client device, the tracking request configured to send information describing the web page to the online system;
• for each of the plurality of tracking requests associated with the website:
• determining a type of user interaction represented by the tracking request, the type of user interaction determined based on information received in the tracking request;
• determining a signal intent score for the tracking request based on the type of user interaction, the signal intent score indicating a likelihood of a user performing a particular user interaction with the website;
• generating a website tracking score for the website based on the signal intent scores for the tracking requests associated with the website, the website tracking score indicative of a quality of tracking requests generated by the website;
• responsive to the website tracking score for the website indicating a low quality of tracking requests generated by the website, generating a report describing interactions of client devices with the website, the report using labels predicted by the online system, each label corresponding to a webpage sent by the website to a client device;
• and
• sending the generated report for presentation to users associated with the website.

A computer system comprising:

• one or more electronic processors;
• and
• a non-transitory computer readable storage medium, storing instructions for the steps comprising:
• receiving, by an online system, a plurality of tracking requests from one or more client devices, each tracking request received responsive to a client device of the one or more client devices presenting a web page received from a website, the web page comprising tracking instructions for generating tracking requests responsive to rendering the web page on the client device, the tracking request configured to send information describing the web page to the online system;
• for each of the plurality of tracking requests associated with the website:
• determining a type of user interaction represented by the tracking
• request, the type of user interaction determined based on information received in the tracking request;
• determining a signal intent score for the tracking request based on
• the type of user interaction, the signal intent score indicating a likelihood of a user performing a particular user interaction with the website;
• generating a website tracking score for the website based on the signal intent scores for the tracking requests associated with the website, the website tracking score indicative of a quality of tracking requests generated by the website;
• responsive to the website tracking score for the website indicating a low quality of tracking requests generated by the website, generating a report describing interactions of client devices with the website, the report using labels predicted by the online system, each label corresponding to a webpage sent by the website to a client device;
• and
• sending the generated report for presentation to users associated with the website.
