Abstract
A communication apparatus: designates a name in a network and requests name resolution for the name; receives a response to the request; and stores the name and information included in the response and relating to the name in a case where the name has a length not greater than a predetermined length, and does not store the name and the information in a case where the name has a length greater than the predetermined length.
Claims10
A communication apparatus comprising:
- one or more memories;
- and
- one or more computers for causing the communication apparatus to:
- request name resolution, by designating a domain name, to a domain name system (DNS) server,
- receive a response to the request, which includes address information corresponding to the designated domain name, from the DNS server,
- determine whether or not a length of the designated domain name is longer than a predetermined length;
- in a case where it is not determined that the length of the designated domain name is longer than the predetermined length, cause the one or more memories to store the designated domain name and the address information in association with each other, and to perform communication based on the address information that is included in the response;
- and
- in a case where it is determined that the length of the designated domain name is longer than the predetermined length, even in a case where the response is received, cause the one or more memories not to store the designated domain name and the address information in association with each other, and to perform communication based on the address information that is included in the response.
A control method for a communication apparatus that comprises one or more memories, the control method comprising:
- requesting name resolution, by designating a domain name, to a domain name system (DNS) server;
- receiving a response to the request, which includes address information corresponding to the designated domain name, from the DNS server;
- determining whether or not a length of the designated domain name is longer than a predetermined length;
- in a case where it is not determined that the length of the designated domain name is longer than the predetermined length, causing the one or more memories to store the designated domain name and the address information in association with each other, and performing communication based on the address information that is included in the response;
- and
- in a case where it is determined that the length of the designated domain name is longer than the predetermined length, even in a case where the response is received, causing the one or more memories not to store the designated domain name and the address information in association with each other, and performing communication based on the address information that is included in the response.
A non-transitory computer-readable storage medium storing a computer program for causing a computer included in a communication apparatus that comprises one or more memories to execute:
- requesting name resolution, by designating a domain name, to a domain name system (DNS) server;
- receiving a response to the request, which includes address information corresponding to the designated domain name, from the DNS server;
- determining whether or not a length of the designated domain name is longer than a predetermined length;
- in a case where it is not determined that the length of the designated domain name is longer than the predetermined length, causing the one or more memories to store the designated domain name and the address information in association with each other, and performing communication based on the address information that is included in the response;
- and
- in a case where it is determined that the length of the designated domain name is longer than the predetermined length, even in a case where the response is received, causing the one or more memories not to store the designated domain name and the address information in association with each other, and performing communication based on the address information that is included in the response.
