Abstract
A method for generating a personal identification number (PIN) debit child product for use in performing a debit payment transaction with a merchant entity. A payment processing platform receives a user selection of a financial institution made via a merchant payment page and directs the user to authenticate a user identity with the financial institution. The payment processing platform receives a user selection of a core account held with the financial institution, such that the core account provides financial backing for the child product. The child product is generated that includes a child card number and a virtual PIN associated with the core account. Advantageously, the method provides the ability to make PIN debit transaction on the Internet.
Claims20
A computer-implemented method, comprising:
- displaying a first webpage on a display device in a web browser application executing on a computer system, wherein the first webpage includes a code segment that is executed to automatically populate fields in the first webpage;
- receiving, from a browser add-on installed on a second webpage, virtual card information associated with a virtual card that is generated via the second webpage and linked to a core account that provides financial backing for the virtual card, the virtual card information comprising a card number and a card verification value (“CVV”);
- incorporating the virtual card information into the code segment;
- and
- executing the code segment to automatically populate the fields in the first webpage.
A computer-readable storage medium storing instructions that, when executed by a processor, cause a computer system to perform the steps of:
- displaying a first webpage on a display device in a web browser application executing on the computer system, wherein the first webpage includes a code segment that is executed to automatically populate fields in the first webpage;
- receiving, from a browser add-on installed on a second webpage, virtual card information associated with a virtual card that is generated via the second webpage and linked to a core account that provides financial backing for the virtual card, the virtual card information comprising a card number and a card verification value (“CVV”);
- incorporating the virtual card information into the code segment;
- and
- executing the code segment to automatically populate the fields in the first webpage.
A computing system comprising:
- a memory storing instructions;
- a display device for displaying processor output;
- and
- a processor that is coupled to the memory and, when executing the instructions, is configured to perform the steps of:
- displaying a first webpage on the display device in a web browser application executing on the computer system, wherein the first webpage includes a code segment that is executed to automatically populate fields in the first webpage;
- receiving, from a browser add-on installed on a second webpage, virtual card information associated with a virtual card that is generated via the second webpage and linked to a core account that provides financial backing for the virtual card, the virtual card information comprising a card number and a card verification value (“CVV”);
- incorporating the virtual card information into the code segment;
- and
- executing the code segment to automatically populate the fields in the first webpage.
