Abstract
A storage device transmits a message to a host, where the message indicates that at an opportune time the host should relocate or abort a block of data that is stored in the storage device. The storage receives a command from the host, to relocate or abort the block of data stored in the storage device.
Claims25
A method, comprising:
- transmitting, by a storage device, a message to a host, wherein the message indicates that at an opportune time the host should relocate or abort a block of data that is stored in the storage device;
- and
- receiving, a command at the storage device, from the host, to relocate or abort the block of data stored in the storage device.
A non-volatile memory device, comprising:
- a non-volatile memory;
- and
- a controller coupled to the non-volatile memory, wherein the controller is operable to:
- transmit a message to a host, wherein the message indicates that at an opportune time the host should relocate or abort a block of data that is stored in the non-volatile memory;
- and
- receive, a command from the host, to relocate or abort the block of data stored in the non-volatile memory.

A system, comprising:
- a processing unit;
- a display;
- a non-volatile memory device comprising a non-volatile memory;
- and
- a controller coupled to the non-volatile memory, wherein the controller is operable to:
- transmit a message to the processing unit, wherein the message indicates that at an opportune time the processing unit should relocate or abort a block of data that is stored in the non-volatile memory;
- and
- receive a command from the processing unit, to relocate or abort the block of data stored in the non-volatile memory.
