Abstract
The present invention relates to a new and distinctive canola, designated CL3701975H. Also included are seeds of canola CL3701975H, to the plants, or plant parts, of canola CL3701975H and to methods for producing a canola plant produced by crossing the canola CL3701975H with itself or another canola genotype, and the creation of variants by mutagenesis or transformation of canola CL3701975H.
Claims20
A seed of canola designated CL3701975H, wherein a representative sample of seed of said cultivar was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-123165.
A method of introducing a desired trait into canola CL3701975H, wherein the method comprises:
- (a) crossing a CL3701975H plant, wherein a representative sample of seed was deposited under ATCC Accession No. PTA-123165, with a plant of another canola cultivar that comprises said desired trait to produce F1 progeny plants, wherein said desired trait is selected from the group consisting of male sterility, herbicide resistance, insect resistance, and resistance to bacterial disease, fungal disease or viral disease;
- (b) selecting one or more progeny plants that have said desired trait to produce selected progeny plants;
- (c) crossing the selected progeny plants with the CL3701975H plants to produce backcross progeny plants;
- (d) selecting for backcross progeny plants that have said desired trait and physiological and morphological characteristics of canola CL3701975H to produce selected backcross progeny plants;
- and (e) repeating steps (c) and (d) three or more times to produce selected fourth or higher backcross progeny plants that comprise said desired trait and produce seeds comprising fatty acids comprising at least about 70% oleic acid and less than about 3% α-linolenic acid.
