Identifying and/or recommending relevant media content

A method, comprising:

• determining, using a system that includes a hardware processor, that a media content item is related to a topic;
• associating the media content item with a group of media content items associated with the topic;
• in response to determining that a number of media content items in the group of media content items meets a threshold number of media content items, assigning a classifier value corresponding to an interest level classification to the media content item;
• and
• generating a notification message associated with the media content item for a user account based on the classifier value and contextual information associated with the user account.

A non-transitory computer readable storage medium comprising computer-executable instructions, that in response to execution, cause a computing system to perform operations, comprising:

• determining that a media content item is related to a topic;
• associating the media content item with a group of media content items associated with the topic;
• in response to determining that a number of media content items in the group of media content items meets a threshold number of media content items, assigning a classifier value corresponding to an interest level classification to the media content item;
• and
• generating a notification message associated with the media content item for a user account based on the classifier value and contextual information associated with the user account.
