Abstract
Example methods and systems to provide persistent memory are disclosed herein. An example system includes a nonvolatile cache to store data received from a volatile cache. The data is associated with a transaction and the data is to be identified as durable when the transaction is committed. The example system includes a nonvolatile memory to store the data received from the nonvolatile cache when the data is identified as durable.
Claims15
A system to provide persistent memory, comprising:
- a nonvolatile cache to store data received from a volatile cache and to support atomicity, consistency and durability, the data being associated with a transaction, the data to be identified as durable when the transaction is a committed transaction;
- a nonvolatile memory to store the data received from the nonvolatile cache when the data is identified as durable;
- and
- a volatile cache manager to write back the data from the volatile cache to the nonvolatile cache when the transaction is executing,
- wherein data persistence is maintained without a log.

A method to provide persistent memory, comprising:
- storing first data received from a volatile cache at a nonvolatile cache, the first data to be identified as durable when a transaction associated with the first data becomes a committed transaction and the data is persistent, the nonvolatile cache to support atomicity, consistency and durability;
- evicting the first data from the nonvolatile cache responsive to identifying the first data as durable;
- storing the first data received from the nonvolatile cache at a nonvolatile memory when the data is identified as durable;
- writing back the first data from the volatile cache to the nonvolatile cache when the transaction is executing;
- and
- storing second data received from the volatile cache at the nonvolatile cache, the second data being a version of the first data,
- wherein data persistence is maintained without a log.
